Last September, Ricardo’s Time held conferences in Peru. The topic was Objectivism – Ayn Rand’s philosophy. This initiative sought to promote Ayn Rand’s ideas and their practical application in the individual’s life.
POSCON (The Peruvian Objectivist Student Conference) occurred for the second consecutive year at Ricardo Palma University (URP). Other complementary conferences also happened at Universidad Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM), Universidad San Martin de Porres (USMP), Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP), Universidad Nacional de San Antonio Abad del Cusco (UNSAAC) and Universidad Católica Santa María de Arequipa (UCSM). Ricardo’s Time chose universities to engage students in the discussion of ideas and generate a dialogue about problems of an individual nature and as a society. And how philosophy can help us find solutions.
Academics and entrepreneurs specialized in the study of Objectivism gave lectures at the conferences, such as Eduardo Marty, public accountant and economist; Martin Hooss, an expert in English literature and philosophy; and Ricardo Ibáñez, entrepreneur and president of Ricardo’s Time.
The main topics addressed were Objectivist philosophy, entrepreneurship, integrity, and the practice of rational and objective values. Lectures explored both theoretical and practical aspects of ethics and politics.
The fight for liberty requires the adoption of correct ideas. In this sense, the philosophical battle is the only path to individual freedom, and the only means to change the mystical and collectivist paradigms that have dominated history.
The events were successful, and we seek to repeat this accomplishment every year to reach more active minds.
